Following next year’s deadly helicopter crash at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which left 67 people dead, President Donald Trump demanded that Congress implement a new air traffic control system during the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday.
” We should have had better products. We don’t. We have outdated products. They were understaffed for whatever reason”, Trump told the audience. ” I guess the aircraft was large and we’ll find out what exactly happened.”

” The chances of that happening are really small”, Trump added. ” It’s like, did you ever see, you go to a driving range in golf and you’re hitting balls, lots of balls, thousands of hours. I not witness a puck hit by another game.
Trump railing against previous La policies at the Federal Aviation Administration last year,  , implying the federal government wasn’t hiring the best and brightest to guard the skies. This is the same as the deadliest U.S. plane collision in decades. Trump called it” common feeling” when asked what made him feel comfortable that diversity laws were a contributing factor to the accident.
The leader on Thursday blamed the incident of the American Airlines , Flight 5342 arriving from Wichita, Kansas, and an Army Black Hawk Sikorsky H-60 on” a lot of errors made” before claiming it may lead to better legislation to prevent another fall.
Trump said,” I believe what will happen is that we will all sit down and create a fantastic automated system for our power towers.” ” Brand new, no pierced-together, outdated … trying to hook up a land-based structure to a dish system”.
” We spent billions and billions of dollars trying to restore the whole broken technique, instead of just saying, cut it loose and this spend less money and create a great method, done by two or three firms, very good business specialists”, Trump continued.
The president then implored congressional leaders, including Johnson, Thune, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY ) to pass” a single bill where we get the best control system”.
The FAA made a statement this week that until March 31 there would be no restrictions on helicopter traffic over the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport.
Sean Duffy, the transportation secretary, also made an announcement on X on Wednesday that he had spoken with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency team to “help upgrade our aviation system.”
Trump praised the late evangelical minister Billy Graham, praised the late Billy Graham, and made a point about the bipartisan confirmation of some of his Cabinet members during the portion of the rest of his remarks at the prayer breakfast.
The president also had a second prayer breakfast at the Washington Hilton hotel, where he continued to make pro-religion remarks.
