Trumpism isn’t really an American phenomenon—it’s then making its way into American elections. As a protest against the decision Labor Party, an American state senator has officially changed his name to” Aussie Trump.”
The lawmaker, previously known as Ben Dawkins, is an independent member of the upper house of Western Australia’s ( WA ) parliament, where Labor holds a majority.
He wrote on X, signing off as” Aussie,” and said,” I’ve launched a political protest against the tyranny and systematic corruption of the Labor government in WA.
In another post, he added,” Voting Work Up! &, Drill Baby Drill”!, repeating a word used by US President Donald Trump to market oil and gas extraction.
The parliament’s website now lists his name as Austin ( Aussie ) Letts Trump. He even posted a picture on X showing legitimate papers confirming the title change from the state’s registration of births, deaths, and Relationships.
Trump was kicked out of the Labor Party in 2023 following accusations that he had repeatedly broken community violence restraining orders.
Western Australia’s Premier Roger Cook dismissed the title change. ” This is essentially attention-seeking stuff”, he said at a press conference. ” I’m not certain how far he is go.”
Labor will have a state vote in resource-rich Western Australia second quarter, followed by a federal election that needs to take place by May.
