A teenage girl in Shanghai shocked everyone after stealing and unknowingly selling her mother’s jewellery, valued at one million yuan ( approximately US$ 140, 000 ), for a mere 60 yuan ( US$ 8 ) to purchase lip studs and earrings.
The circumstance came to light when the family, surnamed Wang, found that her daughter, Li, had taken the important things from their home and sold them for a fraction of their value. According to Shanghai Media Group, Wang, who was alarmed by the damage, immediately reported the matter to the Wanli police place under the Putuo Public Security Bureau.
Studies revealed that Li, who was apparently experiencing an “adolescent rebellion,” had taken the jewelry to try to get some pocket cash. A trending videos online showcased the stolen goods, which included stone bracelets, earrings, and other important gemstone pieces. Aware of their real worth, Li erred and sold the items to a nearby stone recycling shop.
” I had no idea why she wanted to sell it,” she said. That moment, she claimed she needed money. When I asked how many, she told me,’ 60 renminbi.’ I asked why, and she said,’ I saw one with chin studs, and I thought they looked excellent. I wanted one very,'” Wang recounted to the authorities. ” She said that the mouth superstar cost about 30 renminbi, and they will give me another pair of earrings for 30 renminbi, thus 60 yuan total”, she added.
Upon receiving the document, the officers responded quickly. They effectively traced and recovered the jewelry after working with business management and surveillance footage. The recovered objects have since been returned to Wang.
