A Uyghur person who attempted to flee from China in 2015 but was detained and forced to return, according to a person with knowledge of the situation and a police officer from the boy’s Xinjiang neighborhood.
Abduqadir Abdurrahman, who was 25 years old when he was given a sentence, attempted to flee the nation by way of southern China’s Yunnan province to South Asia when he was detained by police in 2015, according to a companion of his who now resides in exile in Turkey.
Abdurrahman was born in Guma region, where a policeman from Piyalma town in Guma region claims he was detained and given a sentence after being returned to Hotan district in Xinjiang.
According to him, Abdurrahman was given a five-year prison sentence for “illegal relationship” in addition to the 14-year prison sentence for the trip, adding that during their stay, Abdurrahman met and wed his wife in a standard Muslim wedding ceremony led by an imam.
Some Uyghurs who have attempted to flee the oppressive regime of the Chinese authorities in Xinjiang in an effort to find a better living abroad have been detained and taken residence, according to earlier Radio Free Asia reports.
Some of the nations they first crossed into sent people back to China, and others perished in officers conflicts.
Abdurrahman, then 34, is serving his sentence in Xinjiang’s capital Urumqi, he said. His family is also in prison, though the police didn’t include information about her sentence.
When more than 30 people started arriving at the Chinese border while Abdurrahman’s companion, who declined to be identified for health reasons, claimed he and Abdurrahman were returning from their home in Hotan district. Police stormed the home where they were hiding a moment before they crossed the border.
More than 20 fellow guests were arrested, including Abdurrahman and his fresh woman, while five people escaped, his friend said.
Abdurrahman was born into a theological community, he said.
Abdurrahman studied cooking and eventually opened a shop in Piyalma town, he said. After graduating from middle college, he said. He had some occasions during that period, teaching the Quran to local children based on what he had learned from his parents.
In consequence, Abdurrahman’s shop was shut down several times in the following years, and he was detained on more than one situation.
Four other Uyghurs from there were discovered and sentenced for the same cause as Abdurrahman, according to another policeman from the town of Piyalma.
