Mitch McConnell, a former Senate Republican president, was the only Republican to oppose Tulsi Gabbard‘s validation as director of national intelligence, despite his “no” vote, which was cast in a 52-48 vote, having already confirmed her. All 47 Democrats voted against Gabbard.
McConnell claimed that he did not support Gabbard because he was upset that Gabbard had refused to brand Edward Snowden as a thief. According to McConnell, Edward Snowden’s disloyal treachery of the United States and its most delicate lawful intelligence actions endangered sources, methods, and lives. McConnell claimed that it would be risky to “empowering a DNI who merely acknowledged the importance of crucial knowledge set regulators when her candidacy appeared to be in jeopardy.”
On Monday, McConnell cast a legal action in favor of moving Gabbard’s candidacy to a final up-or-down ballot.
Additionally, McConnell cast a “no” on defense secretary Pete Hegseth, obstructing Vice President JD Vance to end the knot and appoint him as head of his new position.
Chuck Schumer, the leader of the Senate Democratic Party, pleaded with the senators to dismiss Gabbard because she lacked the intelligence officials ‘ wisdom and credentials to lead the operation.
Before the vote, Schumer said,” I feel so strongly that I just wanted to create one last appeal to my Democratic acquaintances.” We just can’t in good conscience give someone who sneers at Russian propaganda and rejects conspiracy theories our most closely held techniques to.
Republicans called for McConnell’s expulsion from the Senate and criticized him. ” Mitch McConnell cast a ballot against Tulsi Gabbard.” The man is a walking body. Why hasn’t his household taken him out of retirement? It’s elder abuse at this point”, one wrote.
Mitch McConnell, a “backstabbing RINO,” casts a ballot against Tulsi Gabbard. Find out”, right-wing critic Benny Johnson wrote.
McConnell, 82, just fell two times close to the Senate room, putting him in a wheelchair. However, the lawmaker seated in a chair and cast a ballot against Gabbard. ” Mitch McConnell voted no on Tulsi Gabbard’s election for DNI, who didn’t move himself into job.” She was also confirmed anyways. The ancient watch is well defeated”, one wrote.
