DHAKA: On Thursday, the Bangladeshi foreign government announced that the Yunus authorities would issue a “formal warning” to India regarding the deposed PM Sheikh Hasina’s extradition when it thinks the timing is ideal. The political leadership will send the reminder when they think it’s appropriate, according to government spokesman Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, who told investigators. He emphasized that the issue involves both diplomatic and political factors when asked for particulars.
Alam confirmed that Bangladesh had submitted a set of pertinent documents to India along with a diplomatic letter ( note verbale ) in December that formally requested Hasina’s extradition.
On whether Bangladesh had provided an arrest warrant to facilitate the abduction, Alam said all necessary materials, received from the appropriate ministries, had been included in the word verbale. When questioned about the schedule of a potential recall to India, Alam said it would be a “diplomatic and social selection” and that the government would act accordingly. Alam said despite Bangladesh’s proper demand, India is yet to listen. ” We continue to anticipate a response from New Delhi”, he said.
India’s international department spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal has confirmed that New Delhi received Bangladesh’s extradition request. Hasina is accused of killing more than 100 people during the rebellion in July that led to her escaping to India on August 5 and bringing charges of death, murder, and crimes against humanity.
