After critics claimed her most recent effort to oppose deportation for illegal immigrants may have broken federal law, border czar Tom Homan suggested an investigation into Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY ) might be forthcoming.  ,
Homan said in a Fox News interview the day before that he was in contact with the Department of Justice to find out whether Ocasio-Cortez’s action constituted an unlawful barrier to the Trump administration’s imprisonment work. Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove does investigate whether the New York lawmaker’s work” crossed the line”, Homan continued.  ,
” But, maybe AOC is going to be in trouble today, but I need the AOG to express my opinion on that. Barrier is barrier, in my opinion”, Homan said. ” I’m hardly a counsel, but we need some further advice on that. But again, if we have to consider every governmental money out of the town, we’ll do it. I mean, we’re done”.
In response to Homan’s alert, Ocasio-Cortez shot up a mocking comment on societal media.  ,
” MaYbe shE’s goiNg to be in TroUble nOw”, she trolled. ” Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start” . ,
During Ocasio-Cortez’s company’s Facebook conference, which she did not attend, video guests said the Fourth Amendment applies to anyone, including illegal immigrants. The legal protection requires a security from “unreasonable” searches and seizures by the state.  ,
There is a basic rule in place here, which is that ICE will need a permit from a prosecutor or your consent to enter that area or conduct a search. When we’re talking about common spaces, ICE may have reasonable fear in order to make an arrest”, said one speech, who identified herself as Laura.  ,
Genia Blaser, a lawyer with the Immigrant Defense Project, told viewers that “ICE raids are political tactics, and they’re often intended to create fear” . ,
” We see how ICE typically uses language to prosecute refugees, to adjust their methods and defend what they’re doing”, she added.

Ocasio-Cortez published a number of” Know Your Rights” pamphlets on her social media accounts to inform illegal immigrants about how to handle ICE agents following the webinar. The papers, written in English and Spanish, advised people not to open windows to agencies unless they have a permit, warned them not to reveal any personal details with authorities, and told them to get a lawyer in anticipation of ICE operations.  ,
” If you’re pissed that I’m educating the people of this country of their Constitutional rights, that’s on you”, Ocasio-Cortez wrote. ” And yes, immigrants have rights too. This is the free’s LAND.
The congresswoman represents about 700,000 people in different Bronx and Queens neighborhoods in New York’s 14th District.  ,
Her commitment to fight the deportation effort of the Trump administration comes as Homan is instructed by the White House to firstly target people who have committed crimes for their removal.  ,
ICE has already carried out several operations in Ocasio-Cortez’s city, arresting over 100 people, according to a New York Post analysis. According to a New York Times report, the estimate includes a Jan. 28 initiative that targeted 39 people for removal from the United States. Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, a suspected ringleader of the Tren de Aragua Venezuelan gang, and an alleged MS-13 gang member were among the detainees.

One New York City resident told NBC News,” I think it’s okay if they need to arrest someone because they committed a crime, but I worry that they may also need to detain others who haven’t done anything wrong.”  ,
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, has broken with his party and Ocasio-Cortez’s defiant stance toward Homan, taking a number of steps in recent weeks to cooperate with the Trump administration‘s deportation effort.
