BANGKOK: As authorities enhance a crackdown on the unlawful operations, Myanmar handed over 300 Chinese con center workers to Thailand on Friday.
Over the approaching days, thousands of foreigners are expected to return home from scam-dominiums in Myanmar, with the first sample now arriving on Thursday.
Many of the residents who claim they were trafficked and forced to deceive people around the world in lengthy online scams claim that the buildings are run by legal groups and have foreign employees.
Myanmar’s coupsaid in a statement that a second group of 300 Chinese nationals was handed over on Friday via the Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Bridge 2 at the Thai border town of Mae Sot.
The junta has been “working to discover, arrest, and take action against immigrants who are connected to online scams and those responsible,” according to the statement.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun hailed the” thunder-style cooperation” between China, Myanmar and Thailand to tackle the scam areas.
According to Guo,” China and different nations are strongly committed to fighting cross-border online gaming and telecom fraud and protecting Chinese citizens ‘ lives as well as their legitimate rights and interests.”
People were seen boarding a Southeastern China Airlines plane on a live stream on The Reporters, a field related to the one that AFP journalists witnessed on Thursday.
It said that the first 50 Chinese nationals boarded a 10.40 AM ( 0340 GMT ) flight, with the rest expected to depart on five additional flights throughout the day.
More Chinese citizens are expected to return on Saturday with a final set of airlines.
Many of those who were free from fraud centers claim they were duped into doing so and held against their will, but the government of China and state media have called them” suspects.”
Chinese authorities are accompanying the relocation planes, and a state TV statement from Thursday showed the returnees being frogmarched off the plane in China with a policeman commander on each arm, handcuffed and dressed in brown jumpsuits.
They had boarded uncuffed, in everyday clothing, without any bag.
Biometric data will be gathered from Chinese nationals who have been repatriated, according to the Thai government’s statement on Thursday to stop” Thai people being used as a legal transport hub in Thailand.”
On Thursday, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinwatra and her Lao equivalent met to talk about how to overcome scams along their discussed border.
