In exchange for the release of hundreds of Arab prisoners from a tense Gaza ceasefire that is about to reach its end, Palestinian militants released six Jewish hostages on Saturday.
The launch of the final cluster of living victims in the first step of the truce comes after two heartfelt time in Israel, where the remains of another prisoner, Shiri Bibas, have been found after the first transfer of a different system. Hassos ‘ quick search and gain of Bibas’s system was a signal that it did not want to bear responsibility for violating the contract prior to the scheduled Saturday exchange, which it did. Among the dozens of people who were taken captive by the attacks on October 7 was Bibas and her two younger sons.
At a meeting in Nuseirat, key Gaza, masked Hamas insurgents brought onto a phase Eliya Cohen, 27, Omer Shem Tov, 22, and Israeli-Argentine Omer Wenkert, 23. Before returning to Jewish land to the Red Cross, they waved while holding transfer credentials.
In Rafah, extremists handed over Tal Shoham, 40, and Avera Mengistu, 38, who both appeared dazed. Shoham was made to address the meeting. A fifth prisoner, Hisham al-Sayed, 37, was released after. Sayed, a Bedouin Muslim, and Mengistu, an African Jew, had been held in Gaza for about a decade after they entered the territory separately.
