Governor of Wisconsin Tony Reeves is the subject of fierce opposition after proposing changes to state laws that would replace stereotyped terms with negative alternatives, according to Fox News.
The Democratic governor’s budget proposal for the 2025-2027 governmental phase includes changes such as replacing the term “mother” with “inseminated people” and “paternity” with “parentage”. Other changes in the plan swap “wife” and “husband” for” spouse”, while “father” is changed to “parent” and “mother” is replaced with “parent who gave birth to the infant”.
‘ Beyond movie ‘

Republicans quickly voiced opposition to the language changes, with Wisconsin radio host DanO’Donnell calling them “beyond movie” in a blog on X. Senator Mike Lee, a Republican from Utah, even responded to the article, just writing, “red flag”!
The Republican governors association (RGA ) swiftly reacted to the proposed language shifts, calling them part of a “left-wing push” that disrespects mothers.
Every family I know feels the same way, according to RGA executive producer Sara Craig, who said being a family is the greatest opportunity I will have in my lifetime. Our culture is lost if Tony Evers may reduce mother to an “inseminated person.”
Tech tycoon George W. Bush called the gender-neutral language on X “messed up” and responded with it.
Gender conversation in the US
The controversy arises as a result of continuous national debates in the US regarding gendered terminology. In recent years, words like” chestfeeding” instead of “breastfeeding” and “birthing people” instead of “mother” had sparked heated debate over speech and diversity.
Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has taken a strong stance against using like terminology. He signed an executive order titled” Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government” on his first day back in business.
According to the order, federal policy has “recognise two sexes, both male and female,” which it describes as” never changeable and grounded in basic and unquestionable reality.” More clarifications are provided that” intercourse is not a word for and does not refer to “gender philosophy.”
Earlier this month, Trump issued another purchase,” Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports”, aimed at banning transgender players from competing in women’s sports.
During a White House celebration on Friday, Trump clashed with Maine Governor Janet Mills, a Democrat, over his professional commands on gender plans. He warned that states that do not agree might lose money from the government.
The change grew anxious as Mills pushed up against Trump’s warning. Both men agreed to take the battle to court as the end to the dialogue.
