The second government-approved cargo leaving from Port Qasim, according to a multimedia record, has been resumed clear trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh for the first time since their separation in 1971. The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP ) reached an agreement in early February that made the purchase of 50 000 tonnes of Pakistani rice.
In 1971, East Pakistan and Pakistan united to form Bangladesh as a single nation. The products ‘ travel marked the second official trade agreement to be restored since 1971.
Under the bargain finalised, Bangladesh is set to buy 50, 000 kilograms of grain from Pakistan through the TCP. The package will be completed in two phases, with the remaining 25, 000 kilograms to be dispatched in early March, The Express Tribune news.
The growth is seen as a step forward in reviving decades-old business channels and encouraging economic cooperation.
