A Biden-era law that forbade immigration attacks on “protected areas,” such as churches and schools, was overturned by the Trump administration.  ,
Theodore Chuang, a former president’s appointment, said on Monday that the Trump administration’s policy change had a” chilling” impact on these places of worship because immigrant visitors feared being taken advantage of by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement searches.  ,
According to Chuang,” Defendants have provided evidence that the willingness of their congregation to attend worship and participate in government service is currently being chilled, and that presence at such actions have already decreased,” particularly at [Cooperative Baptist Fellowship ] and the Sikh Temple.
But, Chuang avoided going so far as to say whether the Trump administration violated the religious organizations ‘ freedom of speech and religious liberty, stating only that a “return to the status quo” is “warranted until the precise outlines of what is necessary to avoid unconstitutional infringement on spiritual exercise are determined afterwards in this case.”
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM TRUMP’S MASS DEPORTATION PLAN
Chuang’s decision only applies to blocking national assaults at the religious organizations involved in the lawsuit, which include some Christian organizations, CBF, and Sikh Temple Sacramento.  ,
Other religious organizations have sued the Trump presidency for its actions, primarily those of Jews and Episcopal sects.
