French President Macron stated on Monday that he hoped for” strong” US involvement in securing any peace settlement in Ukraine, but that Europe is ready to” step up” defense spending. Macron said he and Trump did examine “long-lasting serenity” in Ukraine but that Kyiv “must be involved” in talks to end the war. After a peace treaty was signed, he claimed that some European nations would be willing to have soldiers in Ukraine as a protection guarantee. However, they would not be deployed to the front lines.
