Israel announced on Sunday that it had deployed vehicles in the state’s north for the first time in 20 years and that it was expanding its military exercise against armed Palestinian organizations in occupied West Bank.
Jewish defense secretary Israel Katz said tens of thousands of Arab residents who have fled the militant concentration camps targeted by the Israeli activity will not be allowed to go back to their homes, adding to the rising tensions.
Israel’s steps came after three cars were detonated on Thursday in various parking lots in Tel Aviv, Israel’s suburbs. Another explosive unit was found and disassembled, at least one more. Authorities are still looking into the matter, but they claim the weapons resemble improvised weapons made in the West Bank.
