In a digital press conference, American foreign affairs minister Mélanie Joly reaffirmed Canada’s unwavering support for Ukraine despite ongoing Russian aggression. The United States also objected to a UN solution that condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on the same day that President Donald Trump did so.
Minister Joly likewise addressed President Trump’s statement that 25 % trade tariffs on American items will go into effect starting next month. She emphasized Canada’s readiness to respond, stating,” We may struggle back against these unfair tariffs that threaten American jobs and our economy”.
Who is Mélanie Joly?
Mélanie Joly, born in Montreal, Quebec, is a popular American politician and part of the Liberal Party. Joly has held a number of significant positions in the federal government, including the House of Commons election of 2015 to reflect the Ahuntsic-Cartierville driving.
