Elon Musk has issued a second and seemingly final warning to federal employees who failed to respond to an email asking them to list five accomplishments from the past week. In a post on X, Musk stated that those who miss the second deadline will be fired.
Federal employees were initially instructed by the department of government efficiency ( DOGE ), under the direction of Musk, to submit their accomplishments via email, with the results of an artificial intelligence analysis of the responses. The action, which aims to identify crucial jobs and lower government spending, has sparked legal disputes and criticism from organizations and organizations.
Yet, despite criticism, Musk—backed by US President Donald Trump—remains strong in his position. What began as an training has since evolved into a clear warning.
Musk announced:” Theme to the choice of the President, they will be given another chance. Failure to respond a next time will result in dismissal”.
He responded to digital professional Matt Welsh’s article on X, who called for greater steps:
” Fire any provincial employee who didn’t answer the internet. Find those who have publicly complained about the internet. Find those who personally complained about the internet. Find those who did nothing but merrily and politely respond.
Musk’s comments came after a previous post in which he had previously criticized national employees:” The email request was completely trifling, as typing some words and pressing send” was required for passing the test! But so many people, urged on in some cases by their professionals, failed yet that pointless check. Have you ever witnessed for DISCOVEREMENT and CONTEMPORATION with how your income are being spent?
Trump has praised the action, calling it a necessary step to ensure transparency in state.
” We have folks that don’t show up to work, and nobody even knows if they work for the government. But by asking the question,’ Show us what you did this month,’ what he’s doing is saying: Are you truly working”? Trump said.
He also suggested that some people weren’t responding because” they don’t actually occur”.
The shift has drawn reaction, with some companies advising employees to dismiss the directive. Lawyer Norm Eisen, representing organizations challenging the scheme, called the mass layoffs unlawful.
The patronizing demand that national employees who are still employed must justify themselves by enumerating five achievement only adds insult to injury. That also is against the law”, Eisen said.
