They hugged, they gripped arms, they touched thighs and they backslapped. But they did not agree on anything. On Monday, French Presidents Macron and US President Trump met to rekindle the most emotional conflict in earth elections.
The couple have a longer history of touching up in public since Trump’s first year in office. However, tensions grew over Trump’s rapid resumption of Russian influence in the Ukraine war.
Macron interrupted his 78-year-old equivalent when Trump made the false claim that Europe was only lending Ukraine money and may repay it.
” No, in truth, to become frank”, he said, touching Trump’s shoulder to prevent him mid-sentence,” We paid 60 % of the entire work and it was- like the US- money, offers, offers”. Trump smirked and said:” If you believe that, it’s ok with me”.
