The former IRS contractor who leaked President Donald Trump’s tax returns also leaked information about over 405, 000 other taxpayers, according to the Internal Revenue Service ( IRS ).
According to Fox Business, the IRS notified the House Judiciary Committee earlier this month that Charles Littlejohn, who is now serving a five-year jail sentence after leaking Trump’s tax returns to The New York Times and ProPublica, even leaked data on over 405, 000 another American citizens. According to the outlet, Littlejohn recently admitted to giving out tax return information without approval, despite the fact that the leak had an impact on hundreds of thousands of citizens.
Last February, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio ) launched an investigation into the Department of Justice’s “unusual and questionable leniency” into the” sweetheart deal” for Littlejohn following the leak of Trump’s tax return information.
In a letter to Nicole Argentieri, past acting assistant attorney general of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, Jordan said,” The Department’s decision to pursue only one charge for’ thousands’ of individual criminal acts is very concerning, and we worry that the Department’s decision may be politically inspired”.

The Republican president noted that the drip of Trump’s tax returns had also had an impact on over 7, 600 another American citizens at the time Jordan wrote the letter to the Justice Department. In response, Jordan requested that the committee receive information regarding the whole scope of the tax return leakage.
The IRS stated in a letter to Jordan and the House Judiciary Committee earlier this month that the IRS “relyed on data analysis by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration ( TIGTA ) and the IRS to send notifications to 405, 427 taxpayers whose taxpayer information Mr. Littlejohn improperly disclosed.”
The IRS noted in its notice that almost 89 % of the citizens affected by Littlejohn’s steps were “business companies”. The ministry further stated that the event has been made known to all of the taxpayers who have been leaked their tax returns.
According to Fox Business, Littlejohn was sentenced in January of 2024 to five years in prison. Additionally, the former IRS contractor received a 36-month supervised release sentence and a$ 5,000 fine. Federal prosecutors alleged Littlejohn’s involvement in Littlejohn’s case to the extent that he sought his position as an IRS consultant in order to hole the mayor’s tax returns, according to Fox Business.
