
Chris Jasper, a former part of the Isley Brothers who helped the team form its colorful funk-rock sound, has died.
The singer-songwriter died Sunday at age 73, his household announced Monday on , Facebook,  , two weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer in December. The article did not reveal more information, including Jasper’s cause of death and where he died.
His household said,” He will be greatly missed and his legacy will live on as an inspiration for years.”
On Tuesday, Jasper’s Gold City Records brand and members of his family did not respond to The Times ‘ ask for verification. Jasper’s child Michael confirmed his father’s death to multiple , stores.
Jasper was born Dec. 30, 1951, in Cincinnati and started pursuing song with traditional music in his youth. In the first 1970s, he joined the Isley Brothers and later joined the Juilliard School of Music, where he studied music content under Billy Taylor. In its first generation, the party included Vernon Isley, Ronald Isley, andO’Kelly Isley, brothers Rudolph Isley, and Ronald Isley. Despite the 1955 death of Vernon, the group had risen to prominence in the late ‘ 50s and early’ 60s with hits including” Twist and Shout” and” This Old Heart of Mine”.
In 1973, Jasper and younger Isley brothers Ernie and Marvin joined the band as keyboardists, assisting with a section of gradual funk-rock jams. Elaine’s girl was Rudolph Isley’s spouse. With the launch of its 1973 song” 3+3,” the band officially became a quartet. During his time with the Isley Brothers, Jasper wrote, arranged and produced music including” For the Love of You”,” Between the Sheets” and the optimistic” Fight the Strength”, according to his site.
In the 1980s, the group split into two smaller groups, with Jasper keeping a close relationship with Ernie and Marvin to type Isley-Jasper-Isley, as a result of tensions between its namesake brothers.
The group was known for the music” Caravan of Love”,” Look the Other Way” and” Insatiable Woman”. After three songs, Isley-Jasper-Isley disbanded in 1987. Jasper launched his logo Gold City Records in the same year as he launched his solo career. The” Superbad” and” Share With Me” singer continued his solo work well into his later life. His most recent , one,  ,” Get Number One”, dropped in July 2024.
The Isley Brothers, including Jasper, were inducted into the Rock &, Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. Additionally, the group was given a lifetime achievement award at the Grammy Awards in 2014. Separately, Jasper garnered honours from the National R&, B Society and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, among other prizes.
In Monday’s news his household remembered Jasper as more than a singer:” Chris was a devoted and comforting husband and father”.
He is survived by his wife of more than 40 times, Margie Jasper, and their three children, Michael, Nicholas and Christopher, according to the mother’s blog.
