The former White House volunteer for past president Bill Clinton, Monica Lewinsky, revealed in a podcast interview that she felt Clinton should have resigned because of their relationship.
Or to find a way to stay in office without lying or by calling a young person who is just starting out in the world the “bus”, ” she continued.
Clinton made it known that he had an encounter with Lewinsky while he was president, and this led to his prosecution in 1998.
During the interview, Lewinsky admitted that she really “did n’t know how to process anything ” that was happening when the affair was discovered amid a sting operation.
“It was startling. It was terrifying. The former White House volunteer said,” I didn’t actually know how to approach anything, and it was really a time where life as I knew it was over.”
She reflected on the media being friendly toward her account for “for five seconds” but then after a month, she believed that “once the “ White House got in equipment, I was quite immediately painted as a stalker, a whore, mentally fragile, a bimbo … not interesting enough to be pursued. ”
“There was a creation, a version of me that I did n’t recognize, ” she said. And that is what occurs when there is a strength disparity in a story where the internet plays a significant role in how the story plays out. ”
Cooper asked about how the “slut-shaming ” affected her. Lewinsky stated that she thought that some relationships with young girls usually begin with a certain amount of “lack of self-esteem and self-worth.” ”
“So I now had concerns. It’s style of your worst problem, ” she said.
Lewinsky claimed that her friends and family helped her through the practice, which resembled a tsunami. ”
“ I was so humiliated, ” she added.
Lewinsky expressed regret at the fact that more often than not, she was told, “worse points” about her from women. She said the men often told jokes but women “eviscerated ” her.
“ I think Bill’s conduct was more despicable than mine but I did make blunders, ” she continued. I continued to do things that were improper. ”
The original volunteer claimed she witnessed the White House using belittling to maintain power.
Lewinsky, then 51, reflected on how the changing 24-hour media environment and the growing online at the time in the late 1990s was an encounter that was difficult to process.
According to Lewinsky, it felt as though the earth was making fun of you. ”
When she graduated from graduate school and was unable to find employment, she realized how much she had lost in the knowledge and experienced the “moments of joy ” that helped her get through the tragic events. Former first lady Hillary Clinton was running for president when she was job searching, which hampered her ability to find work. She claimed that some employers refused to even let her audition for jobs for which she was qualified.
Cooper asked her if she had pondered a title change, and Lewinsky said that she had played out all of the possibilities of how a name change may work in public relations, job interviews, and dating but it just did n’t look realistic.
“ I did n’t want to change my name. Why if I have to rename myself? ” she plainly asked about the principle. Nobody has ever questioned Bill about his possibly considering changing his name, I bet. ”

She added reflecting on the hypocrisy, “Okay, I get because he was the most famous person in the world at the moment and was president, but even the idea would never cross someone’s mind to [ask ] a man. ”
Lewinsky expressed gratitude for having a middle-class community that supported her during times of hardship in finding work and expressed empathy for incident victims who believed their only way to pay rent and put food on the table was to “pose naked in a newspaper ” to pay rent. ”
