A rider in Regent’s Park was targeted by hammer-wielding bandits who stole his £4, 200 vehicle in a terrible attack. The incident, caught on film, shows the moment Patrick Conneely, 33, was confronted by two people on a rickshaw while riding in the early dawn, as reported by Daily Mail.
Conneely, from Leyton, west London, was completing a chest around the resort’s Outer Circle when the offenders passed him, inspected his vehicle, then turned again to seek him. One of the adversaries jumped off the moaned and yelled at him to hand the bike over. The thief threatened the victim before grabbing the vehicle and fleeing when Connee refused to remove a hammer from the bottom box of the moped.
The attack is one of a disturbing trend of violent robberies in Regent’s Park, where riders who gather before dawn are frequently targeted by thieves carrying arms, according to Daily Mail. Some subjects claim that sharp objects have been thrown under their wheels or that they have been threatened or knocked off their bicycle. The Metropolitan Police’s reply has become insufficient, with fears mounting for more police officers as riders mount.
Before the park’s official opening, The Met insists it is taking the issue really, employing both plainclothed and armed officers on patrol.
