Due to the sudden activation of the front handles, Health Canada has issued a caution over some LG free-standing energy ranges. The expert, posted on Wednesday, follows reports of instances where the griddle parts were unknowingly turned on by people or animals, reports CBS information.
According to Health Canada, the matter affects more than 137, 000 products sold in the country between 2016 and June 2024. As of February 12, LG Electronics Canada had received eight information of such situations, including two small injuries—a slice and a fire.
Accidental stimulation raises security issues.
Five burner elements and control handles are located at the front, just above the stove door, on the affected models. If unknowingly bumped, these handles can change on the heating elements, posing a fire hazard.
A related recall has been issued in the United States, where about 500, 000 units were sold between 2015 and January 2025. At least 86 unintended activation cases, including five fires and eight minor injuries, were reported by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, totaling more than$ 40 000 in property damage. Tragically, three of these flames involved cats mortality.
What should the damaged consumers do?
Users of the recalled stoves should take action right away rather than abandon them. Customers at LG Electronics Canada are advised to examine the type amount, which can be found inside the oven door or storage cupboard, and examine it to the recall record.
