Jagmeet Singh, the leader of the Canadian New Democratic Party ( NDP ), has urged US President Donald Trump to be barred from Canada because of his criminal conviction and potential threats to international stability. Prior to the G7 Summit scheduled for June 15 to 17, Singh made the remarks in a statement on Wednesday at the Montreal Council on Foreign Relations.
Additionally, I think Donald Trump should be prohibited from attending the G7 Summit. Donald Trump should not be welcome around”, Singh said. Why do we permit entry into our nation for a crime who has already been found guilty?
Singh went further, labelling Trump a “fascist” and criticising his activities during his second administration, including breaks to foreign aid, departure from the World Health Organization and the Paris Climate Agreement, and plans benefiting billionaires.
” Why do we ask someone who has threatened our very politics, our very independence? Why do we ask someone who has threatened our financial well-being, who threatens our friends, and threatens the country’s stability”? Singh asked.
” These meetings may become focused on how we are going to resist Donald Trump”, he added, urging Canada and its allies to use the G7 software to counter Trump’s laws.
The G7 Summit may be held in the Kananaskis place, about 100 miles north of Calgary. Trump will not be permitted to attend or the American government has never made any comments regarding Singh’s remarks.
