Catherine Herridge, a fired CBS News writer, reveals images of Hunter Biden’s records in a” throw at investigative media”
The former journalist makes sure everyone is aware of what was taken after a season since CBS News returned Catherine Herridge’s analytical files.
Herridge, the award-winning investigative reporter, was unceremoniously fired last February in CBS’s cost-cutting clean, posted pictures of the network’s seized documents, which revealed that they contained delicate information about Hunter Biden and Covid-19’s causes.
Taking to X ( formerly Twitter ) on Wednesday, Herridge wrote,” Today, I am releasing photos of the records for the first time so you can see the sheer volume involved”.
A moving box bearing the name Home Depot was visible in the photographs, which included bundles of documents. According to Herridge, CBS had seized four large boxes weighing over 100 pounds in full. She minced no thoughts, calling the action a” literary murder” and” an assault on analytical journalism”.
No investigative reporter should undergo a similar unfairness in the future, she continued.
CBS News, for its piece, declined to comment—perhaps hoping this storm may lose out on its own. But it hasn’t.
A high-stakes fight
A House Judiciary committee hearing titled” Fighting for a Free Press: Protecting Journalists and Their Options” was the result of the saga’s political and media scuffle. Herridge testified, shedding light on her legal battles, including being held in contempt of court for releasing information about a national surveillance history.
Finally, under mounting pressure from SAG-AFTRA, the coalition representing internet experts, CBS gave in and returned her data. Herridge thanked the coalition for supporting her when CBS refused to, stating in her letter,” SAG-AFTRA stood up for news when CBS News professionals seized my monitoring documents.”
The Hunter Biden outage
Herridge’s career at CBS was far from easy flying. She left Fox News in 2019 and rapidly encountered obstacles when reporting on Hunter Biden’s infamous notebook.
Again in October 2020, Herridge unearthed data showing Hunter Biden’s million-dollar fee from a Chinese power company, among other business relations. But when she brought her studies to CBS executives—including then-SVP Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews and outlet Norah O’Donnell—her investigating was buried.
As she watched “60 Minutes” editor Lesley Stahl dismiss the computer’s items as unverified during an exam with then-President Donald Trump, Herridge recalled feeling” sick”. It wasn’t until two decades later—after the 2022 midterms—that CBS suddenly acknowledged the computer was genuine.
CBS under fireplace
The complaints of discrimination are now attracting more attention from CBS News. Next October, the channel aired a “60 Minutes” meeting with Kamala Harris, during which her comments on Israel policy were suddenly edited—leading to a petition from Donald Trump. He contends that CBS fabricated the footage to create Harris look more intelligent. The lawsuit seeks a jaw-dropping$ 20 billion in damage.
This year, reports surfaced that Trump and CBS’s family firm, Paramount, have agreed to bring in a third-party arbitrator in an attempt to settle the case out of court.
As for Herridge, she’s far from done. Then running her own Substack, she remains a thorn in the side of legacy advertising, proving that analytical media isn’t dead—it only needs a new home.
