A decade of disastrous and expensive regulation that demanded racial quotas across neighborhoods far from Washington, D.C., has been ended by Donald Trump’s Housing and Urban Development ( HUD) Secretary Scott Turner.

Secretary Turner is doing the next best thing by reducing as much wasteful spending and rules as he can, even though the national government really shouldn’t be involved in cover at all. His most recent victory, or rather, our most recent victory, is explicitly supporting the AFFH Rule. What can be done is incredible when government officials begin to act as though they are our people more than our elites.
Turner posted on X Feb. 26 about the finish of the woke, dangerous program. ” I have directed HUD to cancel the Biden-era AFFH Rule. Positively Promoting Fair Housing was merely a “zoning income.” It increased house prices and, as a result, decreased the supply of affordable houses. We’re giving energy up to local communities, no Washington administrators”, he declared. Turner later shared a picture of him signing the AFFH document.

The Heritage Foundation criticized the Trump administration for no terminating AFFH immediately up in 2020, explaining how severely disastrous it was during Donald Trump’s first name. It appears that Trump and his nominees have gotten their training and are now putting it into practice.

One of the experts Past quoted at the time was Stanley Kurtz of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, who called AFFH” a piston to re-engineer almost every National neighborhood—imposing a preferred racial and ethnic composition, densifying housing, transportation, and business development in suburb and city everywhere, and weakening or casting off the authority of regional governments over core responsibilities, from zoning to transportation to education”.
Because so many communities have grown to be very dependant on HUD programs like Community Development Block Grants, AFFH’s reach is so great. A nearby town or city would have to abide by AFFH if it wanted national cover money. The mandate’s heinousness was made even more egregious by its application of the uncertain legitimate concept known as “disparate impact.”
Even if there is no evidence of any unfair intent, policies and basic practices that are entirely and completely race-neutral are still considered discriminatory under this doctrine. If the policies discussed above apparently have a significant impact on groups of Americans who are deemed protected by the federal government, they are deemed discriminatory and therefore prohibited.

HUD under Ben Carson in 2020 did end up rolling back , AFFH. Then, under Turner, the guideline is finally forever dead.
$ 4 Million in diversity, equity, and inclusion arrangements were only cancelled at HUD.

I previously reported on Turner’s HUD axing$ 4 million in DEI contracts, but that was actually part of a larger DOGE-driven review that resulted in$ 260 million worth of contracts cut and$ 1.9 billion in “misplaced” funds identified. We only have to expect that trimming will increase.
There’s great media to enjoy every day of the Trump administration, and that definitely includes Turner ending AFFH.  ,
