Pope Francis spent a relaxing night in a hospital, the Vatican reported on Friday, a day after his medical condition improved for the second day in a row.
The cleric’s condition deteriorated to pneumonia in both breathing after being admitted to Rome’s Gemelli clinic on February 14 for breathing problems. Nevertheless, the Vatican has made some positive claims.
The Vatican stated in its day report on the 88-year-old’s health that” as in the earlier days, the evening has passed slowly and the pope is resting.”
The Vatican this week noted small, incremental improvements in his state following a challenging weekend in which the Brazilian, who has been pope since 2013, suffered a breathing attack.
It claimed Francis showed a” slight improvement” on Monday and that his condition was” critical but stable” on Tuesday. Since then, it has not defined his state as” important.”
On Wednesday, a “further, minor development” was reported, and on Thursday, the Vatican announced that” the Holy Father’s medical conditions are confirmed to be improving as well.”
Doctors cannot foretell the possible outcome of the priest’s present situation because the Vatican has not, however, altered the priest’s outcome of “reserved.”
A sustained treatment may take time due to Francis’s time and the serious respiratory condition he suffers.
Further times of clinical balance are required to resolve the prognosis, the Vatican said on Thursday,” Given the complexity of the medical portrait.”
Francis has continued to work in the hospital, where he is currently undergoing breathing therapy while the Vatican says he is resting and praying in a particular papal collection on the 10th ground.
The priest’s hospital stay is his longest and fourth of his almost 12-year papacy.
He has undergone surgery on his stomach, a rupture procedure, and pain in his leg and hips in recent years, which have made him depend on a wheelchair.
Particularly with his busy schedule filled with apostolic duties and celebrations for the holy Jubilee year, rumors have erupted as to whether Francis may then resign.
European Vatican professional Marco Politi told AFP:” If the bishop lives, many people believe that he will want to end the Jubilee time, but that when he is 89, he will have to decide whether or not to retire.”
Benedict XVI, who resigned in 2013 due to his physical and emotional wellbeing, has always been a friend of Francis’.
However, Francis had frequently stated that it was not the right moment before he was admitted to the hospital.
