First Amendment infraction is slammed by FIRE.
On Friday, the Texas A&, M System Board of Regents unanimously approved a resolution prohibiting bring shows at its 11 institutions, citing disregard to girls and” a hostile culture.”
According to the Board, allowing drag displays at school events violates the Texas A&, M System’s vision and values, particularly its commitment to treating others with respect, according to the decision, which was published in a piece by The Battalion.
According to the resolution, these shows “involve sexualized, vulgar, or sexual conduct, and include conduct that denigrates women” and feature men wearing women’s clothing, heavy makeup, and overblown features to belittle women’s bodies.
Additionally, the Board determined that “drag show events are likely to create or add to a hostile environment for girls, in contravention of System anti-discrimination plan and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 ( Title IX )”…
The quality states that “[T]hese events frequently involve unexpected and honestly offensive perform based on sex for some members of the particular communities of universities, especially when they involve the mockery or objectification of women.”
Draggieland 2025, a quarterly bring event hosted by the Queer Empowerment Council on March 27 in College Station, is required by college president Mark Welsh III.
The Battalion reported that the university had formerly discontinued “its funding and financing of the event in 2022.”
According to The Texas Tribune, individuals have even hosted bring shows at the state’s Corpus Christi and East Texas colleges.
The ban was criticized by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression in a blog on X, claiming it was against free speech.
The only thing angry about this is Texas A&’s disrespect for the First Amendment, according to M. Drag is a secured expression. The party wrote,” Total stop.”

The school’s Spectrum WT, an LGBTQ student organization, requested an urgent request to sponsor a generosity drag show on school the next year, but the U.S. Supreme Court turned down the request the following year. The judge’s decision upheld the school’s ban.
