Trump, a US senator, said on Thursday that he backed Russian President Putin in abiding by the terms of a possible peace agreement with Ukraine. Trump met with Britain’s Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, at the White House, and he said,” I think he’ll keep his word.” The chairman of Putin said,” I’ve known him for a long time now.
Trump’s comments made it clear that he was accepting of Putin back of his conference with Volodymyr Zelensky, president of Ukraine.
Trump has officially ended the diplomatic ties with Russia in the first few months of his administration, made a false accusation against Ukraine of starting the conflict with Russia, and constantly demonized Zelensky, including by calling him a “dictator.” On Thursday, he appeared to alter his melody. Trump said,” I have a lot of respect for him.” When asked if he still believed Zelensky to be a despot, Trump deadpanned:” Uh, did I say that? I find it hard to believe I said that.
Starmer was the most recent leader from Europe to visit Washington with the intention of coming up with a theory about Trump.
As he sat next to Trump, Starmer said,” History must support the negotiator, never the invader.” Working closely with our friends, the UK is prepared to fly planes into the air and boots on the ground to help a package. Because that is the only way for peace to survive, the PM said. However, it appeared as though his attempts to push Trump in the direction of Ukraine had failed. Trump made no mention of US troops supporting a security mission with British forces.
Trump was asked on Thursday in the Oval Office what would happen if Russia reneged on a harmony offer but Britain sent peacekeeping forces to Ukraine. Do the Americans intervene to help the English in Ukraine? Trump quickly reacted with no (” They don’t need help” ) and then said no (” If they need help, I’ll always be with the British” ). Had you conquer Russia alone? Starmer contacted Trump. Uncomfortable chuckles broke out in the area.
