Donald Trump, president of the United States, announced he is beginning a system to grant citizenship and a way to independence to investors who pay$ 5 million, opening up a fresh avenue for legal immigration while he implements a massive crackdown on illegal immigrants.
Trump stated that the “gold card” plan may begin in two weeks, noting that he did not think his administration needed to appoint approval from Congress. It was unclear as to the full range of the plan’s full range and how it would be put into practice.
Trump signed executive orders alongside Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Tuesday in the , Oval Office , as he declared,” We’re going to be selling a gold card.
According to him,” We’re going to be pricing that card at about$ 5 million, and that’s going to give you green card privileges,” he continued, referring to the permits that are currently being issued to permanent residents of the United States.
Lutnick claimed the move could replace the current EB-5 software, which allows expat investors to obtain natural cards by contributing a certain amount to a company in the , U.S.
When a reporter asked if participants would need to put in a certain amount of money to be eligible for a gold card, Lutnick responded, “yes, specifically,” but suggested that the card funds be paid straight to the authorities.
The president claimed that we would stop the EB-5 system rather than having this absurd EB-5 program. He declared that the Trump silver card would be in place. They will be able to pay$ 5 million to the government of the United States, to make sure they are world-class, global citizens, of course.
” They may visit America. The president may grant them a green card, they can make investments in America, and we can use that cash to lower our gap, he continued.
Trump has stated that he wants to keep the legal immigration routes available for the U.S. even as he pursues what he claimed was the largest illegal immigrant deportation in the country’s history.
In his second term, Trump has taken measures to increase arrests and secure the southern border, including threatening to impose tariffs on Mexico and Canada if they do not do more to stop the flow of fentanyl, another illegal drugs, and people into the US.
