After his” Farewell Yellow Brick Road” excursion ended in July 2023, Elton John vowed to never travel again. He will be back on the road for at least one day.
The famous singer-songwriter did play May 9 at Petco Park to raise money for the San Diego volunteer Curebound, which has previously hosted Alicia Keys and Ed Sheeran. John is a tumor survivor himself. He underwent treatment for prostate cancer after being diagnosed with the disease in 2017, and he then staged his farewell visit in 2018.
Curebound is a 501c3 firm that raises and invests money for cutting-edge study in San Diego for adults and children’s cancers. Since its two prior Curebound benefit concerts were held here in 2021, the nonprofit has raised more than$ 8.5 million. For more than 20 different pediatric and adult cancer types, it has funded more than$ 45 million in cancer research.
In a statement released on Monday, Curebound CEO Anne Marbarger said,” Music has the power to connect people behind a shared produce.” Every person on the planet has experienced cancers, and working together, we can make it easier for patients and families to get better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment options. The money raised at Concert for Cures will enable us to realize our goal of providing solutions for all of humanity.
In November 2022, John’s” Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour” performance took place at Petco Park. His most new San Diego performance was in November 2022. It’s a big revolt for Curebound to get him to play a full concert once more, let alone in a venue. The pop star hasn’t given a lot of performances in a concert since retiring from touring in the past two years, and with just two exceptions he has just performed a few songs there, hardly a full concert.
The Segerstrom Center benefit concert that raised$ 19.2 million for the volunteer arts center was the most current different. However, Segerstrom just has a power of 3, 000. 40, 000 people attended John’s farewell excursion performance at Petco Park on November 10, 2022.
23 songs were on John’s two-hour-plus Petco present, which started with” Bennie and the Jets.” The music that served as the inspiration for what was billed as his then 56-year single career’s final concert tour was” Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” which was the music that was played at the end.
John’s May 9 Petco Park present tickets go on selling at 10 a.m. on March 7 at mlb.com/padres/tickets/events/curebound. On Monday, a pre-sale may start at curebound. org/concert-for-cures
The Curebound site does not record ticket costs, and seat prices have not yet been released. Costs will be announced next year, according to a member for the San Diego Padres, who assisted Curebound with booking John’s May music at the facility.
