Telita Crosland, the mind of the government’s health agency, retired on Friday, making her the most recent senior official to left under President Donald Trump’s administration.
Trump fired six senior defense officials, including the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and the first woman US Navy commander, following their retirements last year.
Crosland’s pension was confirmed by Stephen Ferrara, the acting secretary of defense for heath matters. He said in a speech,” I want to congratulate Crosland for her commitment to the country, to the defense health system, and to Army medication for the past 32 years.
Crosland was informed, however, that she must withdraw. Two former officers were cited by the news agency Reuters as saying that no reason was given for the judgement.
Crosland, who was the first Black woman to lead the Defense Health Agency ( DHA ), received her West Point education and joined the US Army in 1993 as a member of the Medical Corps. According to her Defense Department history, she formerly served as the Army’s assistant surgeon general.
Under defense secretary Pete Hegseth, the Pentagon has been working to end diversity, equity, and inclusion ( DEI ) programs. According to Hegseth, these initiatives impair device unity.
Hegseth said earlier this month at a Pentagon area house,” Our variety is our power,” which is the single dumbest expression in military history. Why do you get off of something like DEI, in our opinion? Because, in our opinion, it serves a function of dividing the force rather than uniting it.
Additionally, Trump’s security officers have mandated that events of personality quarter like Black History Month and Women’s History Month be ended. They have mandated that all DEI-related information be removed from the Pentagon’s systems.
Additionally, the administration is moving ahead with a plan to expel all transgender support people from the military.
