Bangladesh’s top adviser Muhammad Yunus Sunday emphasized the importance of keeping track of all crimes committed during the rule of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, including the brutal treatment of students at the student movement, police brutality against demonstrators following the death of Islamist head Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, and all extrajudicial killings that have occurred over the years.
When Gwyn Lewis, the UN native co-ordinator in Bangladesh, and Huma Khan, the top human rights director at Lewis’s company called on him,” there is a require for proper paperwork of all crimes committed against the people. Lewis informed Yunus that Volker Turk, the UN’s high commissioner for animal rights, may provide a report to member states on March 5 during the 55th treatment of the Human Rights Council. From March 13 through March 16, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will be in Bangladesh.
Lewis added that the UN is prepared to assist the people of Bangladesh in developing their power in this regard. According to Lewis,” This is a part of the healing and establishing truth,” Yunus ‘ press wing quoted Lewis as saying.
Lewis hoped that the Rohingya problems will be brought up under the spotlight as a result of the declining aid supplies. We are “very concerned about the funding situation,” she said, noting that$ 15 million is required each month to provide food to the Rohingya people and other basic necessities.
