With a 51-45 voting in the Senate, Linda McMahon has been confirmed as the innovative US Secretary of Education.
She will now take over a section that the president has long sought to reduce as a close ally of Trump. Her visit signals a significant change in schooling policy, with the administration now reversing diversity initiatives, reducing funding, and encouraging school choice.
McMahon took a more moderate approach than Trump’s language during her assurance reading. She vowed to carry on financing for Title I schools, loan forgiveness programs, and Pell grants, but she suggested shifting some of those functions to various government departments.
Before McMahon’s assurance reading, the White House had considered asking the education minister to drastically reduce the organization. Her followers urged delaying this decision to prevent controversies during assurance.
