Vijay Chaudhuri has resigned from his position as Hoboken Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla’s Chief of Staff, leaving City Hall to do a career in social and government consulting. Christine Stoll, his family, took over the position on February 28. He was succeeded by her.
Mayor Bhalla praised Chaudhuri’s achievements, saying,” Vijay Chaudhuri is one of the finest public servants I have had the pleasure of working behind. His unwavering support for Hoboken and his deep understanding of the law have improved our area.
Chaudhuri served as Dawn Zimmer’s Chief of Staff in Hoboken’s area government for the first time in 2015. He later took on leadership and communications roles under Bhalla’s administration, and he was instrumental in his campaign for municipal office in 2017, making him the earliest Sikh mayor of New Jersey.
Chaudhuri said in a statement about his career,” Serving the inhabitants of Hoboken has been the honor and privilege of a lifetime.” He praised Zimmer and Bhalla for their confidence and authority, and he highlighted the positive effects of the tasks he worked on.
Prior to joining the Queens Democratic Party, Chaudhuri served as the director of community ties for previous US Representative Joseph Crowley. He graduated from Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
