Harvard, Columbia, and other institutions will be investigated by the DOJ for failing to safeguard Israeli individuals.
A national hatred task force announced on Friday that it would go to 10 university campuses to determine whether they need “remediation action.”
According to a justice ministry press release, the work force may travel to Columbia University, George Washington University, Harvard University, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Northwestern University, Los Angeles University, Berkeley University, Berkeley University, University of Minnesota, and the University of Southern California.
These institutions were chosen because of the rise in hatred in these institutions in the wake of Hamas ‘ terrorist attacks in Israel in October 2023.
The Federal Task Force to Combat Antisemitism of the U.S. Department of Justice will match with school officials, impacted students and staff, local law enforcement, and group members as it gathers info about these situations.
Leo Terrell, a leader on the work force, notified the universities on Thursday that he was aware of allegations that the institutions might have neglected to defend Jewish students and faculty from unlawful discrimination, probably in violation of federal law.
According to Terrell,” The President, Attorney General Pamela Bondi, and the overall supervision are committed to making sure no one feels unpleasant or uncomfortable on school because of their religion.”
The Task Force’s goal is to use the whole power of the federal government to combat anti-Semitism, especially in schools. These trips are just one of many actions the Administration is taking to fulfill that promise, he said.
The Justice Department established the multi-agency work force last month to “root out anti-Semitic abuse in classrooms and on college colleges” in response to President Trump’s most new Executive Order on More Measures to Combat Antisemitism, according to a previous news release.
In a related initiative, the Department of Education launched an hatred research into four of the same universities: Columbia, Berkeley, the University of California, Northwestern University, and the University of Minnesota. According to The Hill, the ministry will also look into Portland State University.
The College Fix recently reported that the studies came after a December U.S. House of Representatives report that found institutions “granted stunning concessions” to “antisemitic encampments” and neglected to “enforce their rules and impose valuable skill.
Additionally, the Anti-Defamation League gave 42 schools a” D” or” F” grade on Monday when it released its 2025 Campus Report Card.
In response, Tim Walberg, president of the Education and Workforce Committee, responded that the document is” a terrible reminder of the scourge of racism that is infecting schools across our land.” We hear of terrorist-supporting crowds obstructing educational houses, harassing Jewish pupils, and causing conflict on campuses, clearly breaking the laws laid out by schools.
” Now that this abhorrent activity has been exposed, it’s time for school leaders to take action… Follow through on your promises to keep Jewish students risk-free!” Your failure to do so will not be tolerated,” he said.
