House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La. ) Democrat lawmaker Rep. Al Green (D-Texas ) was ordered to leave after he disrupted President Donald Trump’s speech to Tuesday night’s joint session of Congress.
Trump celebrated the Republican Party’s “won the famous vote by great figures” in the 2024 presidential election before he addressed Congress on Tuesday, causing Democrats to clap in opposition of the 47th leader. But, Republican lawmakers in the House chamber screamed” USA” loudly to drown out the Democrat lawmakers ‘ shouts.
As Trump continued his talk, he said,” Little business enthusiasm saw its second largest one-month achieve ever recorded, which was a 41-point increase.” Democrats tried shouting over Trump, but the government’s talk was once more interrupted.
Therefore, Johnson subsequently cautioned the agitating Democrat lawmakers:” Members are directed to preserve and maintain etiquette in the House and stop any further interruptions. That’s your caution.
Democrat politicians yelled in protest of the president despite Johnson’s warning, prompting the speaker to issue a second warning, saying” People are engaging in deliberate and ongoing breach of decorum, and the chair is prepared to direct the commander at hands to restore order to the joint period.”
Videos:” We are at war”: Democratic lawmakers yell “lock him up” in major protest.
Green continued to protest Trump’s speech as Republicans praised Johnson’s commitment to restore order. While Johnson repeatedly demanded that the Democrat representative take his seat, Green continued to stand and yell that Trump had” no mandate.”
The chair now directs the sergeant at arms to restore order, Johnson said, “finding that members continue to engage in willful and concerted disruption of proper decorum.” Remove this gentleman from the room.
Once order was restored in the House chamber, Johnson said,” Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the House. You may continue, Mr. President.
Green told reporters after being removed from the House chamber,” The president said he had a mandate, and I was making it clear to the president that he had no authority to reduce Medicaid.”
When asked if disrupting Trump’s speech would be the best way to convey his message, Green responded that it was the “best way” to convey his message to” a person who uses his incivility against our civility.”
According to Green,” I’m willing to endure whatever punishment I can get.” Don’t punish me, I said to no one. I’ve stated that I’ll bear the consequences. However, it’s worthwhile to mention that some of us are going to fight this president’s plan to reduce Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid.
