Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, made it known on Wednesday that he would read with European allies about the potential role that France’s nuclear deterrent might play in defending the globe from Russian threats.
In a televised address, Macron described Russia as a” threat to France and Europe” and stated that he wanted to start the strategic discussion about our ( nuclear ) deterrent’s role in protecting our allies on the European continent. France, the only nuclear energy in the European Union, plays a significant role in the defense strategy of the group.
Despite conversations over a more comprehensive security plan, Macron made it clear that the French leader would have complete control over France’s radioactive army.
At a particular Union summit in Brussels on Thursday, officials will also explain military aid for Ukraine and strengthening European security. The topic of nuclear deterrent is expected to be on the plan.
Also, Macron stated that he would work with US President Donald Trump to stop imposing heavy taxes on Western products. Trump has threatened to impose 25 % tariffs on EU products, which might put pressure on transatlantic business connections.
