UN Security Council: Sudan’s armed forces have signed a charter, which has “grave concern,” making it even more dangerous. It was worsen the country’s conflict and worsen the humanitarian crisis.
The military Rapid Support Forces, which have been at war with Sudan’s troops since April 2023, signed the contract next quarter with its allies to form a “government of peace and unity” in the RSF-held areas.
Members of the Security Council expressed tomb worry about the filing of a contract to create a horizontal governing body in Sudan, according to a statement released late on Wednesday.
They warned that such a action “risikos risk aggravated the continuing conflict in Sudan, fragmenting the nation, and worsening an now severe humanitarian situation.”
Additionally, they urged the conflicting factions to end hostilities right away and participate in “political dialogue and diplomatic efforts toward a robust ceasefire.”
The troops and RSF have been engaged in fighting for almost two decades that has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people, the displacement of more than 12 million, and what the International Rescue Committee refers to as the “biggest humanitarian crisis always recorded”.
The army is now in charge of the north and east, while the RSF is in charge of the region’s northern region, which includes significant portions of Darfur and parts of the south.
Army forces have recently made gains in the funds Khartoum and northern Sudan, retaking essential areas that paramilitaries had seized without delay when the war started.
