Chinese foreign secretary Wang Yi on Friday warned that Beijing will continue to retaliate against what he described as the United States’ “arbitrary tariffs,” accusing Washington of responding to goodwill with hostility. Speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of China’s annual parliamentary session, Wang said US policies were straining ties between the two countries.
He criticised Washington for imposing punitive taxes despite China’s efforts to help overcome America’s fentanyl crisis.
” No country may worry that it can reduce China and keep a good relation with China at the same time”, Wang said. ” For two-faced functions are not good for the balance of diplomatic ties or for building joint trust”.
Since US President Donald Trump returned to company for his next career in January, both countries have been caught in a period of punitive taxes. The US has imposed a blanket 20 per cent tax on all Chinese exports, while Beijing has responded with a 15 per cent work on major US exports, including poultry, meat, soy, and meat. China has also expanded limits on American firms operating within its borders.
Wang criticised the Trump administration’s focus on prioritising US interests over global assistance, and warned that such an approach may destabilise world order.
The Foreign minister furthermore said if every nation followed this way, the world would fall into the “law of the woods”.
” Small and weak states will get burnt primary, and the international order and regulations will be under severe shock”, so big countries should undertake their international responsibility instead of seeking income and bullying the poor.
