A New York Police Department ( NYPD ) detective is facing scrutiny after appearing in a music video by rapper S-Quire, raising concerns within the department, the New York Post reported.
Detective Melissa Mercado, a seven-year veteran of the NYPD already assigned to the Bronx Special Victims Unit, was featured in the music videos for Doin That.
The film, which has circulated frequently net, has drawn mixed reactions from law enforcement officials. While some within the power have questioned the propriety of her membership, others argue that it is a personal issue related to her skilled responsibilities.
A law enforcement source told the New York Post that Mercado’s role in the movie may raise concerns about off-duty career plans.
” If she is performing for wealth, if she has a side job, the job would want to hear about that”, the supply said, adding that NYPD personnel are required to file an off-duty job application. But, the cause even stated,” I would say little she does in the movie is the agency’s business”.
Some officials expressed shock over Mercado’s participation. ” I have no terms”, said one policeman when asked about the picture.
Mercado, who joined the department in 2018, has not publicly commented on the subject. The NYPD has no confirmed whether an internal evaluation is being conducted regarding her presence in the picture.
