In a recent exclusive interview on FOX Business with Larry Kudlow, Elon Musk, now heading the Department of Government Efficiency ( DOGE ), revealed insights into his team’s methods for detecting potential wasteful spending and fraudulent activities within the government. Musk gave people a behind-the-scenes glance into how the DOGE determines targeted companies and breaks as well as what he sees as its true purpose.
Musk stated,” We look at the government’s professional commands, and we also just follow the income”. He highlighted that DOGE began scrutinizing USAID according to said breaches of national executive orders regarding the expulsion of international support.
Musk specifically pointed to government-funded non-governmental organizations ( NGOs ) as a major area of concern. ” I think, one of the biggest resources of fraud in the world, is government-funded non-governmental companies. This is a giant scam hole where the authorities may grant funds to an NGO, and then there are no settings over that NGO”, he explained.
Musk confirmed that DOGE has “pretty much” obtained access to the saving files of almost every state firm. He also emphasized the department’s commitment to transparency, noting that planned expenditure cuts are detailed “line-by-line” on the DOGE website. DOGE is a temporary organization planned to work within the federal government with the goal to cut trillions of dollars in wasteful spending of taxpayer money until July 4, 2026, according to Fox News.
Since beginning the work of the DOGE, Musk has faced criticism to which he responded saying,” What we’re adding here is caring and competence”, adding,” There’s a massive amount of fraud of, basically, people submitting Social Security numbers for Social Security benefits, unemployment, Small Business Administration loans and medical care. We’re trying to put a stop to all of that”.
Musk explained that the DOGE is there to help departments “get a handle on things”. According to Fox News, the DOGE” currently employs a team of about 100 people, with an ultimate goal of 200 workers ranging from information security, software and coding, and finance”.
In the interview, Musk revealed his surprise at being given this role and the opportunity to be able to fix the “enormous” federal budget deficit which is at$ 2 trillion, noting that his “wake-up call” was learning that America’s interest payments are “higher than our Defense Department budget”.
” If we didn’t do something about this, then there won’t be any money for anything. We’ll just be servicing debt”, Musk said, adding,” Really, I just don’t want America to go bankrupt”.
