In Tuesday’s combined speech, the United States and Ukraine noted that the U. S. will” talk to Russia that Russian cooperation is the key to achieving serenity” in the Russia-Ukraine battle. Rubio explained that if Russia agrees to the Trump administration’s ceasefire proposal, additional negotiations can take place to end the war.
” This is very serious. Today people will die in this war. They died yesterday, and sadly, unless there’s a ceasefire tonight, they’ll die tomorrow”, Rubio told reporters. ” The president wants that to stop”.
The secretary of state explained that in addition to the ceasefire agreement, the Trump administration’s proposal also emphasized a commitment to hold “immediate negotiations to end this conflict in a way that’s enduring and sustainable”.
Sharing a video message on X, formerly Twitter, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine is “ready to accept” the Trump administration’s ceasefire proposal.
” We see it as a positive step and are ready to take it”, Zelensky stated. ” Now, it is up to the United States to convince Russia to do the same. If Russia agrees, the ceasefire will take effect immediately”.
