The Piano Man will take a break from touring to concentrate on something other than his song: his health.
Grammy champion Billy Joel announced Tuesday that he will prolong his latest journey for four weeks because of a “medical problem”. A , statement , via the” Piano Man” and” Vienna” singer-songwriter’s Instagram says day away from the road does “allow him to recover from current operation and to have natural treatment under the guidance of his physicians”.
” Joel is expected to make a complete recovery”, the statement added.
Joel hits wait on his journey just days after his most recent present Feb. 22 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. During that music, the crooner , took a spill , during his performance of” It’s Also Rock and Roll to Me” and quickly recovered. It’s questionable whether that event is related to Tuesday’s news. The speech did not disclose more information about the band’s health.
While viewers will have to wait until July 5 for the 75-year-old song to return to touring with a display at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium, he assures them that the split is for good reason.
” While I regret postponing any shows, my health had come earliest”, he said.
The five-time Grammy winner announced his facility tour in September, revealing that Sting and Stevie Nicks had co-headline for limited shows. Weeks before announcing his journey, Joel brought his , hit 10-year residency , at New York’s Madison Square Garden to a nearby in July.
If properly into his 70s, Joel told , The Times in 2023 , he often looks forward to more performing chances even after the end of a trip or a citizenship. He furthermore isn’t the biggest supporter of farewell travels, he said at the moment.
” I have a hatred for capitalizing on that:’ Permit me harm that it’ll become the close, and then I’ll make a lot of money,'” he said. ” I’ve seen bands so many times announce their goodbyes tour and then they not go away”.
Amid his treatment, Joel tells supporters he isn’t going somewhere, however.
” I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the pleasure of live songs with our wonderful enthusiasts”, he said Tuesday. ” Thank you for your understanding”.
