
A year after saying the mysterious office responsible for collecting foreign intelligence needed to be revamped, Elon Musk made an unexpected visit to the National Security Agency on Wednesday.
Musk was accompanied by Timothy Haugh, the Air Force, the General who leads the NSA, and the U.S.  , Cyber Command. The NSA claimed in a statement that the visit was Musk’s first as a special assistant to President , Donald Trump. Meetings with important officials “ensure we are all aligned,” it said.
The intelligence community in the United States is preparing for scrutiny from Musk, whose Department of Government Efficiency ( DGE ) has overseen efforts to cut down staff and eliminate entire government departments in accordance with Trump’s request to terminate diversity programs.
Musk wrote on X, the social media platform he owns,” The NSA needs an overhaul,” on March 6 and 6 in a note.

National surveillance organizations are supposed to be immune from Musk’s efforts to cut costs. However, the Central Intelligence Agency’s Director, John Ratcliffe, and its Director, John Ratcliffe, offered buyouts to his staff in what the agency claimed was an effort to improve its focus on issues like China and Trump’s desire to reduce the national workforce.
