After another actor claimed he abused them, Zulu, the popular L.A. hardcore punk band, parted ways with singer and founding associate Anaiah Muhammad.
The musician Simpson posted on Instagram this week that,” In April of last year, we had an encounter that was primarily sexual and resulted in me being thus traumatized, I was gaslit by him into thinking I was on my period until I was able to explore a healthcare provider after a following encounter where he choked me so tight it left a great bruise near my neck down to part of my collarbone, and I knew I needed to seek help.”
Knowing everything was deeply, deeply bad,” Simpson continued,” I began talking to people about the abuse I had been the most recently exposed, and I began to learn from it.
Muhammad stated in a statement that” I want to start by saying that I completely deny always engaging in any form of physical mistreatment.” Crime toward people, particularly partners, is totally against my ideals, and I would never hurt anyone.
The accusations against me are” not merely untrue but also seriously detrimental to me, my loved ones, my circle, and those who have supported me throughout my lifestyle,” he continued. I want to make it absolutely apparent that I have never used any form of coercion, deception, or loneliness toward this person. I have never tried to control her culture, stifle her personal life, or otherwise ensnub her.
The band’s remaining people made the announcement that they were going on hiatus and then offered a long response in response to the allegations.
” We are aware of the accusations made against Anaiah. We express our condolences to all victims of abuse and denounce the abuse of the most vulnerable in our societies. Our hearts get out to anyone who has gone through any physical or emotional abuse, rape, or other work that has harmed them and taken their freedom away,” they wrote.
” Another Zulu people have broken up with Anaiah and are no longer engaged in any form of collaboration with him.” We want to make it clear that the allegations were not made public before, and we were immediately concerned when we read the in-depth account. We also understand that anyone who supported this circle, its message, and what it represents has been very upset and disappointed. We have actually put this project on hold after resuming our appointed performances when we get home.
All future tour dates have been canceled by the band, including Refused’s famous run opening on their last North American appearance this year.
