DAMASCUS: According to state media reports, a fire in the Arab southern city of Latakia on Saturday left at least three people dead and 12 injured, the cause of which is still a mystery.
According to state news agency SANA, the fire in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Latakia area has so far left three dead and 12 injured, citing provincial government.
Additionally, it stated that” civil defense teams and people are still looking for some injured and missing”
Ward Jammoul, a 32-year-old area resident, told AFP that she heard a “loud blast,” adding that she “headed to the page and discovered a totally destroyed building.”
She claimed that there were vehicles and civil defense personnel at the site, along with” a large number of people who had gathered to search for those trapped beneath the wreckage.”
A huge plume of smoke was visible in an image taken by SANA that showed a crowded neighborhood.
