In the new government of prime minister Mark Carney are Indo-Canadian Anita Anand and Delhi-born Kamal Khera, one of the youngest women ever to be elected to the Canadian Parliament. Previous central banker Carney of the Liberal Party sworn in with members of the 30th French Ministry on Friday.
With 13 men and 11 ladies, Carney’s case is smaller than Justin Trudeau’s 37-member group. Both Anand and Khera, 36, are minister of health, while Khera, 36, is chancellor of innovation, science, and industry, making them two of the few supervisory positions that Justin Trudeau’s cabinet can hold with diverse portfolios.
When Khera was still a student, her household moved to Canada. She received her Bachelor of Science level from York University, Toronto.
Anand, who had a lead in the election for the next prime minister to remove Trudeau, had announced in Jan that she would not been running for re-election. She had later changed her mind on March 1 and stated that” Canada is facing a critical time in our country’s history.” Anand moved to Ontario in 1985 after being born and raised in remote Nova Scotia.
