The Watsonville, California-based Granite Construction Co. received a$ 70, 285, 846 contract over the weekend from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection ( CBP), mandating the company to erect “approximately seven miles of new border wall in Hidalgo County, Texas, within the U.S. Border Patrol’s ( USBP ) Rio Grande Valley (RGV ) Sector.
According to CBP, the fresh wall’s” important holes in the boundary wall that were left insufficient due to delayed contracts during the Biden Administration” were the areas that the new walls would shut off.
According to CBP, the orders lead” the DHS [ Department of Homeland Security ] Secretary to take all necessary steps to install and construct physical barriers to ensure full operational control of the United States,” according to CBP.
Kristi Noem, the secretary of state for immigration, visited the southwestern boundary on Saturday. Everyone, I’m in Arizona, and best where the border wall begins, she says in a video statement shot at the borders. ” We’re beginning seven new yards of development as of right now. We will keep restoring America’s security.
According to The Daily Caller News Foundation:
Former US president Joe Biden halted the construction of the wall after Trump declared a “national crisis” at the southern border in 2019 and halted the wall’s implementation. He argued that blocking walling off the entire southern border was” not a major policy solution” and that the federal emergency was “unwarranted.”
Missouri and Texas immediately brought a lawsuit against the Biden administration, and Missouri obtained a court order for Biden to recoup the$ 1.4 billion in funding the construction project.
Afterwards, Congressional researchers determined that the border wall agreement had been suspended, but Republican lawmakers objected, according to CBS News.
By the second quarter of Trump’s subsequent name, encounters at the southern border  had reached levels not seen since the 1980s.
