On Monday, US President Donald Trump made a direct connection between Yemen’s Houthi rebels ‘ actions and Iran, the country’s major supporter, and warned Tehran do” suffer the consequences” for more attacks by the group.
Trump’s government’s new attacks against the rebels, which have already claimed the lives of at least 53 people this trip only, appear to be going on, are furthered by Trump’s comments on his Truth Social website. Iran, in addition, is still weighing how to listen to a text Trump sent them last week in an effort to resump any discussions over Tehran’s quickly advancing nuclear programme.
Houthi followers staged protests in various cities on Monday, offering retaliation for Israel and the United States for blocking aid to the Gaza Strip following Hamas’s occupation it. Young boys chanted the group’s chanting” God is the greatest, dying to America, death to Israel, curse the Jews, triumph to Islam” on the Houthis ‘ al-Masirah dish news channel live.
According to Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a Houthi leader who addressed the demonstration in Yemen’s rebel-held capital Sanaa,” the Yemeni position is an irreversible position ( regarding Gaza ), so do whatever you ( Americans ) want.”
The UN called for a stop to all defense operations in Yemen and the Red Sea, urging “utmost caution” and warning that “any further escalation may exacerbate local tensions,” according to UN assistant official Farhan Haq on Monday.
Trump refers to the Houthis as” sinister gang and criminals” and said there is” no guarantee that that that power will stop it.” Trump also warned against any attack by the party, which he said would be met with “great power.”
Trump claimed in his blog that Iran had “played the honest victim” of scoundrel terrorists from whom they had lost control but haven’t lost control. They “dictate every move,” giving them weapons, providing them with highly developed military equipment, money, and yet “intelligence,” according to the media.
What sparked Trump’s article is unknown. The brain of Iran’s military Revolutionary Guard, however, made an effort to distinguish this weekend’s actions from those of Tehran. The Houthis even launched drones and missiles into the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea, but none of them succeeded in bringing the ship’s ongoing aircraft operations there.
Iran did not respond to the article right away.
” Iran may be held accountable, suffer the consequences, and those consequences may be dire,” declares the statement “every shot fired by the Houthis will be treated from this point forth as being a shot fired from the arms and management of IRAN.” Trump even emphasized.
From November 2023 until January 1 this year, the Houthi rebels launched a ceasefire in Gaza and attacked over 100 vendor arteries with missiles and drones, sinking two of them, and killing four seamen. The Houthis ‘ reputation in the wider Muslim world was significantly boosted by the campaign’s positive effects on dissent and aid workers, as well as their common criticism of their human rights violations and crackdowns.
The Houthis claimed that American attacks had increased overnight, despite American officials never giving an immediate response.
Houthis storm a warehouse run by the World Food Program In Saada state, the Houthis ‘ stronghold, the rebels stormed a storehouse there. In the wake of the US airstrikes, a part of Yemen’s expelled government initially reported that the Houthis had been removing supplies from the service without the WFP’s approval. The Houthis ‘ activities were later acknowledged by the UN organization to The Associated Press.
The de facto government ‘ decision to acquire some of the assets is regretted by the WFP, it said. These goods were made with the most flimsy food-insecure individuals. Just WFP and its partners have the power to deliver them and make sure they reach their intended consumers.
Yemen has been at war for years since the Houthis seized Sanaa in 2014. However, the UN suspended its presence in Saada in February due to security concerns following the recent punishments of dozens of UN employees and others. The WFP announced a day later that one of its staff members died while the Houthis held them in captivity.
