Following the arrest of Jeanette Vizguerra, a fugitive illegal immigrant who is a well-known expat rights activist in Colorado, Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued a severe censure of President Donald Trump‘s administration.

Mayor Mike Johnston compared the actions taken by the Trump administration against Vizguerra, who had hid in a church for years without getting arrested before Trump’s subsequent expression, to those taken in Russia.

In a statement posted to X, Johnston said,” Jeanette Vizguerra is a mother of American citizens, a Target worker, a volunteer head, and an advocate for immigration reformation.” Her arrest is not related to security. This is “political rebels ‘ oppression in the Putin style.”

Local media reported on Tuesday night that Hispanic citizen Vizguerra was detained by ICE officers while entering her place of employment.

She was taken to and booked into the refugee confinement facility outside of Denver, ICE’s Aurora Processing Center.

A number of demonstrators gathered outside the agency’s gate and demanded that Vizguerra be released right away.

Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO ) advised Vizguerra to appear in court on a post to X.

He remarked that Jeanette Vizguerra is a “pillar” of her community. I am extremely anxious about ICE’s detention of her without any legal protection, such as a imprisonment order. ICE if instantly release Jeanette so she can have legal counsel.

Former ICE area business director John Fabbricatore claimed Vizguerra frequently had her day in court.

She is a legal and has experienced owing process several times, according to Fabbricatore in a article. She has lied and circumvented our emigration regulations for more than 15 times. She is subject to a imprisonment purchase. She was ordered to leave. Left to “visit her baby” in Mexico and re-enter the US. If she is no more a final purchase, she is still a reinstatement case. She has not proper to refer to a judge as a re-entry. She repeatedly breaks the law because you and another Liberals coddle her all the time. Sayonara Seorita, nbsp!

Vizguerra, who illegally entered the country in 1997, established herself after a 2009 feud with Colorado officers. She was stopped for a traffic infraction that year and eventually found guilty of fabricating documents related to the customers solution.

She repeatedly sought an order to leave the United States, but it was rejected by an immigration determine.

Vizguerra was denied a fifth appeal during Trump’s second phrase in 2017, and she found refuge in a nearby church, where officers were not permitted to arrest in without a legal warrant. Vizguerra hid out for three centuries at the First Unitarian Church in Denver.

Vizguerra stated to CBS News Colorado in January that she thought that all illegal immigrants, including thieves, were at risk of being detained and deported under Trump.

Vizguerra told CBS News Colorado,” I don’t care if it’s a doctor, I don’t worry if it’s a school, I don’t care if it’s a religion,” adding that she didn’t care if some people spent 40 or 50 years there. Everyone is in danger, they say.
